1 Timothy 1: 3-5

Paul advising Timothy what to do and the why behind it.

"As I urged you when I went into Macedonia, stay there in Ephesus
so that you may command certain people not to teach false doctrines
any longer or to devote themselves to myths and endless genealogies.
Such things promote controversial speculations rather than advancing
God's work - which is by faith. The goal of this command is love, which
comes from a pure heart and a good conscience and a sincere faith
." --NIV

"On my way to the province of Macedonia, I advised you to stay in Ephesus.
Well, I haven't changed my mind. Stay right there on top of things so that
the teaching stays on track. Apparently some people have been introducing
fantasy stories and fanciful family tress that digress into silliness instead
of pulling the people back into the center, deepening faith and obedience.
The whole point of what we're urging is simply love -- love uncontaminated
by self-interest and counterfeit faith, a life open to God
." -- The Message

i also like how The Message version puts verse 8...
"It's true that moral guidance and counsel need to be given, but the way you
say it and to whom you say it are as important as what you say."

恩....值得省思的一段
many times we don't know how
but one thing is for sure...
we need to ALWAYS keep in mind of the WHY
and it's just simply -- love. :)

  1. agree :) often times motives are overlooked but they're as important as the words on our lips!
